east at the main ridgeline of Sobaeksanmaek (mountain

city with Chungcheongnam-do to the west; Muju-gun
of Jeollabuk-do and Gimcheon-si of Gyeongsangbuk-do
to the south; and Icheon-si of Gyeonggi-do and Wonju-si
and Yeongwol-gun of Gangwon-do to the north. |
Geographically,
it is located in the middle region
between Charyeongsanmaek (mountain range)
to the northwest and Sobaeksanmaek (mounta
-in range) to the southeast.
It is in the middle latitude zone between 36°
00'35" and 37° 15'20" North and longitude
bet
-ween 127° 16'40" and 128° 38'15" East,
which
is the east end of the continent of Asia.

Cheongju,
the location of the provincial hall of CHUNGBUK, is located
at 36° 37'00" North and 127°
27'00" East. The meridian (127° 30'00") for
Korean Standard Time passes the eastern part of
Cheongju. Hongseong of Chungcheongnam-do and Yecheon of
Gyeongsangbuk-do are on the
same latitude as Cheongju. |
